BIO
Jim is a financial advisor and founding partner at Financial Integrators. His financial career spans four decades with a diverse background in pension, tax planning, financial planning and investments.
As a former investment analyst at a global financial services company, he covered several industries including financial services, outsourcing, health care, energy and utility companies. His most extensive analysis was with oil and gas where he led coverage of the energy industry for domestic and international companies. While at that firm, Jim also acquired a deep understanding of all types of retirement plans and consulted on the design of effective pension programs.
Jim holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and uses this background to help clients with their overall financial planning and the appropriate tailoring of investments. His continuing education to maintain his CPA designation has focused on trusts, taxation and estate planning. Through the American Institute of CPAs, Jim earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential, demonstrating his knowledge and experience in personal financial planning. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and serves as a founding member of the firm’s investment committee. Jim is also a MDRT member with 2-year Top of the Table qualifications.
Jim stays very active in the Des Moines community. Highlights of his involvement include positions with Central Iowa Shelter & Services, Junior Achievement, the Investment Committee of United Way of Central Iowa, the Investment Committee of the United Way Emerging Leaders Initiative, and the University of Iowa Krause Fund. He received an Honorable Mention for the Invest in Others Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished community service, contribution, and leadership.
During the inaugural Investment News Awards held in New York in 2024, Jim was awarded "Advisor of the Year - Midwest Region" in recognition of his significant lifetime work and achievements in the wealth management profession. (This award recognizes the most outstanding advisors in specified regions. The winner is publicly nominated and then judged based upon business development methods, knowledge of investment strategies, client relationship and retention methodology, client education, and community involvement. This award is not based on investment performance).
Jim’s approach as a financial advisor focuses on collaboration and strategic integration. He works to align every financial component into a cohesive plan, giving clients the financial confidence they need to focus on their future.
Jim is an avid Iowa Hawkeye supporter. He and his wife Melissa reside in Urbandale, Iowa and have two adult children, Nicholas and Stephanie.
